Praised as "a true treat for the adventurous ear" (Time Out New York), Bombay Rickey might be the soundtrack to a Bollywood Noir from the 1960s or a Spaghetti Western that never existed. The five-piece band defies easy categorization, with a unique sound evocative of cinematic soundscapes. Performing covers and original music that borrow equally from the worlds of Surf Rock, Cumbia, Spaghetti Western and Bollywood, and balanced out with a coloratura homage to Yma Sumac, Bombay Ricky’s music is complex but playful, danceable and intellectual―and unlike anything you’ve ever heard.
Sunset Wednesday concerts are held on the Great Lawn. Please leave your blankets home, but feel free to bring a picnic and your own folding chair--ours will fill quickly. You may also use the picnic area adjacent to Glyndor Gallery, or purchase supper from The Café and dine on the Kate French Terrace. In case of rain, the music will move indoors to Armor Hall with overflow space in the Mark Twain Room and the covered terrace. There is no food or drink allowed in Armor Hall. Check wavehill.org for shuttle service and for The Café menu on Sunset Wednesdays.
Grounds open till 8:30PM.
Glyndor Gallery and The Cafe will be open till 7:30PM.
