Are you curious to learn more about Syrian textiles? Join leading scholars, conservators, and experts in Syrian cultural heritage preservation for a series of three engaging, virtual talks that focus on textiles’ contributions to Syrian culture from antiquity to the present. Free with registration. Links to the Virtual Events will be emailed to registrants the day before the talk.
November 30: Maya Alkateb-Chami and Rania Kataf share their perspectives on ongoing efforts to document and preserve Syria’s textile heritage.
December 7: Blair Fowlkes Childs, Lisa Brody, and Martina Ferrari discuss the archaeology, history, and conservation of ancient textiles.
January 18: Deniz Beyazit and Julia Carlson discuss how the fine garments designed and created by skilled artisans in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries reveal social and cultural traditions.
