We have close animal transients, like Henrietta and Tommy, two wild turkeys who often visit the Nature Center with a handful of poults (baby turkeys!).

Weingberg Nature Center's programing includes a:

  • nursery school
  • after school programs
  • traveling nature programs
  • adult classes
  • birthday parties
  • special events

Host your child's special day with WNC animal friends, enjoy roasting marshmallows, a scavenger hunt, nature crafts, and other nature adventures hosted by our WNC Nature Educators.

Volunteering is a great way to learn a new trade, meet new people and gain a feeling of accomplishment.  Weinberg Nature Center is continuously recruiting teenagers, adults and seniors to become a part of our volunteer family. We seek people to lend a hand with animal care, summer camp, programs & events, marketing & social networking, landscaping/gardening, and trail maintenance. Prior experience is not necessary for these positions. Other positions requiring experience include marketing, social networking, grant-writing and fundraising.

The Weinberg Nature Center sits on land donated to the Village of Scarsdale in 1958 by Wilhelm Weinberg, a Dutch banker and art collector. Weinberg had been on a business trip to Paris when the Nazis overran Holland. Thus, by accident, he escaped the Nazis, but his wife and children died in Auschwitz. The Weinberg Nature Center is dedicated to their memory.

Weinberg Nature Center offers outdoor based nature programing for children ages 2 to 10 years old.
